Piles or Haemorrhoids (बवासीर) – name of pain and uneasiness. If you have this disease then this article might be useful for you

as well, I have gone through several forums, information and found few useful tips which can reduce symptoms of this disease, I have segregated tips in three types, i.e. easy to do remedies, time consuming remedies, Miscellaneous remedies

Before beginning with remedies let me suggest how to get better benefits,

-It is advisable that patient should adopt an all-fruit diet for at least seven days

-After the all-fruit diet, the patient may adopt a diet of natural foods aimed at securing soft stools

-Patient should drink 6-8 glasses of water per day without fail

Easy to do Remedies

Hot Water (गरम
पानी): Sit in hot
salt water tub for at least 15 min and let the piles be exposed to water, it should give instant relief, it is effective for internal & bleeding piles also. Repeat as necessary.

Kerosene (मिटटी
तेल): For instant relief, take Kerosene and apply at effected part with cotton wool dipped into kerosene either
inside or out. If inside, inject a little.


Lemon juice (निम्बू
For instant relief, take lemon juice and apply at effected part with cotton wool dipped into lemon juice either inside or out. If inside, inject a little.

Figs (अंजीर): Use hot water to clean three or four figs and then soak them in water overnight.
Eat the figs next morning and drink the water in which they were soaked. It is beneficial if you eat the figs in the evening as well. This effective piles home remedy must be repeated for at least three to four weeks. The figs contain tiny seeds that stimulate
the peristaltic movement in the intestines.

Java Plum or Rose Apple (जामुन): This is a seasonal
fruit, it should be taken (if possible then with salt) every morning for two or three months in its season. The use of the fruit in this manner in every season will affect a radical cure and save the user from bleeding piles during his/her entire life.


Cold Water (ठंडा
पानी): The treatment is done by sitting in a tub filled with cold water for two minutes with knees drawn up
to your chin, the water level should cover the hips. This should be done twice a day. Cold-water treatment helps the veins to shrink and tones up their walls. Other water treatments beneficial in curing piles include cold perennial douche and cold compress
applied to the rectal area for an hour before bed time.


Witch Hazel (it is a liquid astringent):
Borrow a bottle of witch hazel (you can get it from any drug store) and put it to refrigerator to make it chill so that you can use it. You can pour few drops of hazel into a cotton
ball and then you can apply the ball in to the pile affected area. This medicine will help to decrease swollen, pain and itchiness.

Hot and Cold bath (गरम
पानी): A hot sit bath, as hot as can be borne, should be taken. Sit in this bath for fifteen minutes or longer
until the body is thoroughly heated through. Have another tub containing cold water, and after being heated, sit in this for a second or two. Return to the hot water, and repeat. If you use a bath tub, have the water well over the hips. Place the other tub
alongside the bathtub, tilting it by using a piece of wood or some solid article under one side. Continue this for one hour.


Time consuming Remedies

Mango Seeds (आम
बीज): The seeds should be collected during the mango season, dried in the shade and powdered and kept stored
in dry place for use as medicine. It should be given in doses of about one and a half gram to 2 g i.e. one to two spoonful with or without honey two times a day.


Ginger (अदरक):

Half a teaspoon of fresh ginger juice, mixed with one teaspoon each of fresh lime juice and fresh mint juice, and a tablespoon of honey, constitutes an effective medicine for piles.

Add dry ginger powder in buttermilk and drink it to cure piles

Mix dry ginger, cumin seed and rock salt powder in thick curd, intake this mixture after meal


Onion (प्याज):
Onions are valuable in bleeding piles

About thirty grams of this vegetable should be finely rubbed in water and sixty grams of sugar added to it. It should be taken twice daily by the Patient. It will bring relief within a few days.

Onion is also useful in the treatment of dry piles: A crushed onion, skinned and roasted in aches, may be applied with beneficial results.

Consume everyday small onions (these are onions that are very small in size called as sambar onions) in yogurt. This will prevent piles.

Cut onions in to small pieces and dry it in the sun, from that take little pieces of onion (approx the wt of 1 rupee coin) , fry it in the ghee, add little black sesame and sugar powder and eat it in the morning


Bitter Gourd (करेला):


Three teaspoons of the leaf juice, mixed with a glass of buttermilk, should be taken every morning for treating piles.

A paste of the roots of the bitter gourd plant can also be applied over piles with beneficial results.

The juice of the fresh leaves of bitter gourd is also valuable in piles.

Dissolve sugar in 1 tbsp. of bitter gourd’s juice and drink it


White Radish (मूली):

Consume a mixture of 100 mg of grated white radish and a teaspoon of honey, or drink the juice of this vegetable twice a day (morning and evening), about 60 to 90 ml.

Make a paste of white radish mixed with milk and apply it on the affected area to experience relief from the swelling and the pain.

This vegetable can also be taken in the form of juice mixed with a pinch of salt.


Sesame Seeds (तिल के बीज):

Sesame seeds can be taken in the form by boiling twenty grams of seeds in 500 ml of water till it is reduced by one-third.

These can also be given with butter for bleeding piles.

Take a handful of black sesame, in the morning when the stomach is empty, chew it and eat it along with sugar to stop the blood.


Turnip (शलगम): The juice of these leaves should be extracted and 150 ml given to the patient.
It is, however, necessary to take a proper diet of raw fruits and vegetables while taking this juice. For better results, 50 ml of the juice should be mixed with equal quantities of juices of watercress, spinach, and carrots.


Chebulic Myrobalan (हर्रा / हरड़): The herb chebulic myrobalan is a popular remedy for
piles. It is very effective as a laxative and is highly astringent.


Prepare decoction (काढ़ा) of Chebulic myrobalan by adding a couple of spoons of this powder in water and boiling it for
a while to reduce the contents by half. The consumption of decoction helps to arrest secretion or bleeding and strengthens the stomach and promotes self-healing.

The paste of the fruit mixed in a bland oil such as refined coconut oil is good as an external application.

The fruit should be roasted to a brown colour in cluster oil, and then powdered and stored. Half a teaspoon of this powder at bedtime will bring about normal bowel movements in the morning, and the astringent
property of the fruit will heal masses.

Boiling six or seven dry fruits in half a litre of water, which should be used for washing bleeding piles.


Wheat Grass (गेहूं
Wheat grass juice used as an enema helps detoxify the walls of the piles. The general procedure is to give an enema with lukewarm or margosa water. After waiting for twenty minutes, 90 to 120 ml of the wheat grass juice enema is given.
This should be retained for fifteen minutes.


Cumin Seeds (जीरा):


Taking banana mixed with cumin seeds will also relieve the problem in few days

Grind cumin seeds, make a bundle of it and tie it on the pile to stop the blood falling from it. This also helps in relieving severe pain caused due to piles.

Roast cumin seeds, add equal proportion of black pepper and rock salt in it to make a powder. Take this powder along with butter milk after meal to cure piles.


Coriander Seeds (धनिया):

Soak coriander seeds in water at night, in the morning mash it, drink that water or otherwise coriander juice to stop the blood.

Grind coriander, heat it, make a bundle and foment with it to relieve the pain caused due to wart.



Other Miscellaneous Remedies


Drink 1-2 tbsp. of castor oil along with hot milk relieves pain caused due to piles and also avoids scratches on the anus.

Apply frozen oil [coconut] on piles, it will relieve from itching and pain

Piles can be cured by taking finely filtered pure turmeric powder along with water before sleeping at night

Drink Juwar’s starch every day in the morning

Drink a thin gruel of Kalthi’s flour (coarse pulse)

Grind sweet nimb leaves in water, filter it and drink it

Fry suran (tuberous edible root) in ghee and eat it

Dry and bleeding piles are cured by drinking the mixture of jaggery in buttermilk and indrajav in buttermilk respectively



Non Herbal Homeopathic tip: Take three drops of Heomopathic medicine “CollinSonia canadensis-alkohal vol % 70” mixed in half glass of water. drink twice

Last but not least EXERCISE, this should be very important part of your daily routine to keep this disease within limits and tone up your digestive system. Movements which exercise the abdominal muscles will improve
circulation in the rectal region and relieve congestion. Outdoor exercises such as walking and swimming are excellent methods of building up general health. Yogic kriyas like jalneti and vamandhouti and asanas such as sarvangasana,viparit karani, halasana,
and gomukhasana are also useful. Sarvangasana is especially beneficial as it drains stagnant blood from the anus.
